A Feast fit for Queen Elizabeth

Well Elizabeth was Queen for a day even if her castle was inflatable. This lucky little lady had her very own high tea.  Two buffet tables were set, one a bit lower for the kidlets to help themselves and a dining room table set for the adults, although at the end of the day the adults seemed to be rather relaxed around the table intended for the 'kids', one Dad looked particularly comfortable in the little hot pink chair.  It is usually the ladies who prefer the High Tea experience, however today the men where happy to sample the TWG teas and provide positive feedback (between the occasional beer).

Highlight of the day was definitely Spiderman successfully getting all the kids to dance Gangnam Style. Following the spidie games, there was a certain abuzz amongst the kids when news broke that Spiderman agreed to stay for birthday cake.  Whispers and knowing glances, confident they would finally get to see the mystery man without his mask.

Days like this make me feel so lucky to have a job where I consistently get to meet wonderful people and learn about various traditions eg did you know in many Asian cultures when a child turns one month old the parents of the child host a red egg and ginger party.  Elizabeth is a bit older, but her parents embraced the tradition and offered a stained red egg to guests as they arrived (one child asking if the eggs still came from chickens)

Oh, in case you are wondering, Spiderman took his cake to go, so we never got to meet the elusive 'Peter Parker'.

Scandal at the Mansion

A Downton Abbey theme was the perfect setting for this lovely property sitting on the Melbourne city fringe. The guests, aged between 11-13,  spent weeks scouring op shops with their mum's looking for an ideal outfit to suit the post Edwardian era of the TV show.  An old fashion game of clue was played throughout the day and ended with a bingo game whilst watching an episode of Downton Abbey.

Amongst all the action the girls still managed to sit down and enjoy their High Tea in the 'North Wing' , they all sampled various teas (and the occasional hot chocolate), the scones were the definite treat du jour.

I must say when it came time for the birthday cake, never have I heard Happy Birthday sung so beautifully, only to find out the guests are all part of a choir. I was very happy when they decided to sing the song a second time.

Next birthday in the office I will encourage my team to forget the monotone tune and aim for a higher octave :-)

New Props

I took advantage of the sunny weather on Saturday to set up the garden props in anticipation for our promised glorious Melbourne spring, a tad overzealous some would say, however I met an amazing photographer a few weeks ago who is very impressed with the Petite Pippin collection, she asked to use the props in a professional photo shoot for both her website and Petite Pippin.

Lakeview High Tea

A beautiful crisp morning with the sun shining, an ideal start to the day for Lakeview High Tea.

Today's occasion was a 60th birthday extravaganza in a warm and happy home.  Friends and family chatting and laughing whilst sampling the TWG teas and deciding on savoury or sweet treats. No big decisions to make today.
